Acupuncture treatments have been found to be useful for enhancing visual acuity for vision loss as a result of myopia ( short-sightedness), presbyopia (far sightedness), and macular degeneration. Investigative work with the use of the NET-3000® microcurrent stimulator have been found to have had some preliminary successes in these non needle treatments . In some studies, clients have vision improvement of one line on the eye chart after one session, with 2 lines improvement after 3 to 4 treatment sessions.
For the treatment, we use a modified proprietary protocol of the NET-3000® with 20/50 frequency setting with low sensitivity setting and slowly increased from the lowest to higher values until client feels a slight tingling sensation. Clients should/seldom feel any pain with the stimulation. Treatments are applied across four sets of the cleansed local eye points prior to stimulation. The total treatment time varies from 20 to 30 minutes per session.
Treatment may be carried out daily to weekly, depending on the clients availability as well as response. It is recommended that a 10 sessions over 3 to 4 weeks interval and maintenance at 3 to 4 weeks are reasonable to achieve good results. Client response and sustained visual acuity improvement will be individual and are to be followed up with periodic visual acuity assessment.
This treatment is not to be considered without the client first being evaluated by a suitably qualified ophthalmic specialist and should not replace that of continued care.
